The International Emergency Medicine & Global Public Health Fellowship is a program organized through the Department of Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University, in collaboration with the GWU School of Public Health and the Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine. The purpose of the Fellowship Program is to promote experiences, educational initiatives and research pertinent to the development of international emergency medicine and health. The program strives to promote the development and evaluation of emergency care systems throughout the world, by way of field experience, research, education and clinical mentoring. As the field of international emergency medicine grows in both breadth into more and more countries and communities, and depth as it ranges from disaster medicine to humanitarian aid to systems development, we aim to educate and train the future leaders in a growing field. The program provides opportunity for collaboration with a broad spectrum of organizations to achieve these goals. We aspire to enable US physicians to develop leadership skills, knowledge, and experience in order to significantly impact the international community and facilitate future career opportunities. The Institute also provides fellowship training programs for international physicians, ranging from 3 to 24 months in duration. More information regarding these programs for international physicians is available under the visiting scholars program.
